How Value Score is calculated
Value Score ranks catalog products using unit price, Amazon rating, and review count. It does not predict taste or personal preference.
Raw formula
Unit price / (rating cubed × review confidence)
valueScore = unitPriceCents / (amazonRating ^ 3 × reviewPenalty)Lower raw scores rank better. Product pages also show a 1 to 5 value rating and a 1 to 100 Value Score mapped from that raw result.
2. Rating
Amazon rating is cubed so rating differences move the score while unit price still anchors it.
3. Review confidence
Under 200 reviews, review confidence scales down. A product with 100 reviews gets half credit for review depth.
Limits
Outside the score
Taste, allergies, brand preference, roast-date freshness, and live checkout price are outside the score. Ranking placement is not sold. Confirm the Amazon listing before purchase.
